Recipe for Keerai Kadasal - Spinach Masayal without Dal/Tomato

Welcome to Receipe for Keerai Kadasal.

I learnt this Keerai masiyal receipe from my mom. Last week I tried it for lunch along with mango fruit, it came out really awesome. I dedicate this to my mom :-)

Ingredients:

1. Spinach / Arai Keera - 1 medium bunch
2. Red Onion small size - 1 (chopped)
3. Red Chillies - 3 numbers
4. Salt and Water - As needed.
5. Coriander leaves - chopped
6. Oil - 1 tsp
7. Jeera - 1/4 tsp
8. Mustard seed - 1/2 tsp
9. Urad dal - 1 tsp
10. Asafodita / Hing - 1/8 tsp

Method of Preparation

1. Wash the keerai leaves throughly in the water and drain the water.
2. In a kadai or pan, add 1/4 cup of water. Once water getting boiled, add the leaves, onion
3. Cook for 5 mins until the leaves are getting soft.
4. Once the keerai has cooked, keep it aside.
5. Now heat 1 tsp of oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once the mustard seeds are popping out, add the Jeera, Urad dal and red chillies.
6. Transfer this seasoning to the Keerai kadai, add chopped corriander leaves, salt and Hing.
7. Now mash everything together using wooden masher until it gets mashed like a gravy. Do not use mixi to grind it because it will be like a paste.
8.Have this Keerai masiyal with hot rice along with ghee.

Riped mangoes and banana will be a best combination for this.
